Today this historical site is a tourist spot, a dog walking area and an area to practice recreational sports such as jogging and running. Around 200,000 people visit Hill of Tara on a yearly basis. Visiting Hill of Tara is a free activity surrounded with a few gift shops and a coffee shop. There is also a Faire Tree in the area where people leave memorabilia for the fairies.
Shockingly, in 2012 The Stone of Destiny was vandalized by someone who hit it with a hammer and once again in 2014, in the middle of the night by having green and red paint poured over it. The Stone of Destiny was properly restored.
